Board and Train Program
Utilizing our motivational training techniques we create dramatic and lasting change in the behavior of dogs we train. Through many years of training and research we have developed several methods of training that allows us to cause real results with all dogs. Our specialty is rehabilitating behavioral problems that most trainers are unable or unwilling to take on. Our professional staff welcomes the challenge. Don't live in our area? No problem. We will gladly assist you with shipping arrangements for your dog from in any location, or we can even send one of our trainers to your home upon completion for a few days of training. We offer pick up and drop off service to DIA and we will also come to your home as well. We have clients from as far away as Hawaii in our board and train program. Please ask about this service when you set up an appointment. Each of the commands is trained in a controlled environment until the dog clearly understands what is expected of them. Then we gradually introduce environmental distractions to ensure they will perform in the presence of people, traffic, other dogs and the like. Finally we proof the dogs with resistance training. This teaches the dog that when given a command they must follow the command even when pressure or distractions is applied signaling for the dog to break position. We found that we just can not provide the level of training that we expect during this brief stay. We do offer a discount on a board and work program consisting of 14 days. Our three week program is for on-leash training
and includes attention, sit/sit stay, down/down stay, come, heel,
release. Additionally we will provide you with three private lessons at
our facility and are included in the price. Please note that clients requesting
at home training are subject to additional training fees and travel
expenses. The four week program
Our six week program is for off-leash training and includes: all the exercises in the four week program performed off leash plus the place, swing and finish commands. Five private lessons at our facility (or three days of training for our long distance clients at the end of the program) are included. Price: 1950.00 Only 3 available at a time Our aggression management program is a unique program developed by Dr. Forto tailored to rehabilitate even the most difficult aggression or fear problems. Dogs will finish with complete off-leash obedience and solutions that will directly manage your dog's specific aggression or fearfulness issues. Do not be fooled by quick-fix 1-hour television shows. Aggression management takes a considerable time, effort and expertise. Dr. Forto has won awards in fear rehabilitation and aggression management. Please note that clients requesting at home training are subject to additional training fees and travel expenses. Price: Please Call Our protection ready program includes everything in the six week program and will also teach your dog the techniques needed for effective personal protection work. We customize selection and training for your personality, family, life style, business and special needs or we will assist in placement of one of our proven candidates. This program includes a dog! Price: Please Call Requirements~ All dogs must be at least sixteen weeks of age and in good health. Current vaccination records must accompany all dogs and include Rabies, Parvo, and Bordatella (kennel cough) verification. What to Bring~ We will provide everything your dog needs to stay comfortable and well fed during their stay. You may bring food or we will provide a professional diet dog food. If you would like your dog to be fed this food during his stay he charge just $1.00 a day. Should you request that your dog receive supplements or medications we will gladly comply with those needs. We do not recommend you bring bedding or toys as these will be provided. When dropping off your dog please do not leave leashes, collars, bowls, toys or any other items. We cannot be responsible for any items left at the kennel. Veterinarian and Grooming Services~ At Denver Dog Works we can handle any of your veterinary, grooming or other appointments. We work in conjunction with Broadview Animal Clinic and North Metro Animal Hospital, and Broadview Grooming. If you need any of these services please let us know at drop off. We often do nail trims, bath and brushes, full grooms, neuter/spaying, vaccinations, teeth cleaning, and much more for dogs that are staying with us. Prices are very competitive and some of the lowest in Denver. Denver Dog Works is licensed by the Colorado Department of Agriculture, and is fully insured. Separation Anxiety~ No not your dog, but you. Many clients are concerned that their dogs will not remember them or will become overwhelmed by home sickness, This is never the case. Children often spend more waking hours with their teachers than with their parents yet they never forget where home is. During training your dog is well cared for, very active, and enjoy the training experience. After all, every breed of dog exists today has been selectively bred because they serve a purpose in the service of man. They all have jobs. Today dogs that are not trained develop behavior problems. The reason is most often because they need some discipline, education and purpose in life. Obedience replaces that feeling with a feeling of value and purpose. As for you, rather than dwell on how much you will miss your beloved companion for a few weeks, consider the years of pleasure you and your dog will gain through professional obedience training. There are few things in this world as impressive as a well trained dog working in harmony with their owner.
Please note that Dr. Forto does write a weekly blog and you can check on your dog's progress. I try and update this on a weekly basis but my first commitment is to the dogs not the website. Please understand that your dog will not show remarkable progress from one day to the next. Dog training is a change of behavior and it takes time. Also, while we welcome your phone calls, it is not necessary to call every day to check on your dog. We just don't have time to handle all of these calls. We treat your dogs as if they are our own. We are professionals and we have dedicated our life to this. If it is an emergency please call 303-522-1727. Guarantee~ We guarantee that your dog will perform the exercise in the program you chose. If for any reason the dog does not understand or remember the exercises taught to them, we will fix the problem with no additional training fees provided that you have followed our directions we provide to you when your dog comes home. Reservations~ Due to the nature of this very personalized service we offer a limited number of board and train spots each month. We generally have a waiting period of 2-4 weeks. For our clients convenience you may reserve your dogs' training spot in our program by major credit card securely online or by phone. You must first contact our office by phone or email to determine availability and we can give you a start date.
